Preliminary registration began in new Ukrainian domain .IN.UA
On August 01 in new Ukrainian public 2nd level domain (2LD) .IN.UA began the so-called “sunrise period”, during which the submission of preliminary orders for registration of domain names of the 3rd level such like DOMAIN_NAME.IN.UA is possible.

Domain .IN.UA was delegated on July 28 of this year. The agreement on its opening was signed by the .UA domain registry, “Hostmaster” Company and “Technological Systems” Company that became the new domain zone registry.
The new domain is designed for private persons regardless of their territorial location and professional interests, and is Ukrainian analogue of international domain .NAME, also designed for private persons.
In accordance with the domain rules, in .IN.UA may register any names of the 3rd level, including those in no way concerned with the name or surname of the registrant. The brand names as well as common words, such as “water”, “bicycle”, “discounts” and other may be registered in the domain. The only existing restriction is that the domain names can not have less than 3 characters.
“Sunrise period” (or period of preliminary registration) will last till September 01. Upon its termination all preliminary orders for registration will be processed by the IN.UA domain registry (www.in.ua) and new domain names will be delegated to their owners. The delegation will be performed in accordance with the rules of preliminary registration according to the “revolver principle”: in turn one domain name from each official registrar.
Here are comments of the Director General of internet service IMENA.com.ua Dmitry Ivashina concerning the beginning of preliminary registration: “IN.UA became the first new public domain that appeared during 4 years that passed from the moment of acceptance of current rules of .UA domain. Just in these rules for the first time was clearly stipulated the procedure of creation of new public domains of the second level. Strangely enough but till the last moment nobody dared to use the given possibility – all previous attempts were not completed”.
IN.UA is not the only domain of the second level for private persons. In national domain zones (ccTLD) such domains are quite widespread: thus, in the French domain the names .NOM.FR are registered, in Vietnamese - .NAME.VN, in Taiwanese - .IND.TW.
