The IE Domain Registry, which administers the .IE ccTLD, has announced it’s to reduce prices by 12.5% for new .IE domain registrations and renewals of domains from January 1 this year.

The IE Domain Registry, which administers the .IE ccTLD, has announced it’s to reduce prices by 12.5% for new .IE domain registrations and renewals of domains from January 1 this year.

Over the last two years the registry has carried out a programme of cost reduction, resulting in cheaper and more efficient administration.

Last year the there was a 50% increase in .IE registrations.
 
David Curtin, IEDR chief executive said: “We have made significant improvements in the past year in our operations and we are pleased to be able to pass on the benefits of these efficiencies to our customers.”

Last May IEDR reported a profit of just under €500,000 for 2003, following a loss of €1.2m in 2002, and in January 2004 IEDR reduced its prices by 10%.
