Paul Mockapetris, chief scientist with net address firm Nominum, has been given an ACM Sigcomm lifetime award. The award ceremony will be held Tuesday morning, August 23, at SIGCOMM 2005 in Philadelphia.
He is widely credited with creating the Domain Name System (DNS) 22 years ago.
Sigcomm (Special Interest Group on Data Communication) is the Association for Computing Machinery’s professional forum for computer network specialists. First started in 1989, the awards recognise outstanding contributions to the technical development of data and computer communications.
