According to China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) statistics, China had more than 1.09 million registered .CN domain names by the end of December 2005, up 150 percent year on year. CN domain extensions are the most popular among country extensions in Asia and number six in the world.

At the beginning of 2005, CN domain extensions ranked number 13 among the world’s country extensions.
